Math + coding events

See how students at St. Marguerite d’Youville school participated in a math and coding night. On Thursday, February 9, 2016 Students at St. Marguerite d’Youville school participated in a math night. Students in grade 7 and 8 who are part of a coding club wanted to show other students in the school how much fun coding can be. The students used both a sphero ball and scratch programming to pique the interest of their peers. The grade 7 and 8 students leading the program were focused on showing primary students how to make different shapes using the sphero ball. Junior students were challenged to create shapes with the sphero ball and focus on making the sphero wait at the different vertices. Some of the junior students were also trying to reflect different shapes along a “Y” axis made with tape. The sphero takes a little time to get the hang of, but being able to try it out for the first time was still exciting for the Marguerite d’Youville students.
